Spencer Research Library, 1450 Poplar Lane (behind Strong Hall), 785-864-4334. The special collections library of the University of Kansas includes a Langston Hughes Collection, a part of the Kansas Collection. Hughes donated most of the 300 items. It includes autographed books, letters, programs of his Kansas talks, and broadsides. The library contacted Hughes in the late 1950s for contributions. He generously responded through the rest of his life. Visitors can see the range of Hughes's works in print media, including examples of music, poetry, drama, fiction, and prose. (1)
